Exodus 14:10-12 records the Israelites' fearful and angry response to their apparent danger. They first cried out to God, but quickly made Moses the recipient of their complaints. The people sarcastically asked Moses, "Was it because there were no graves in Egypt that you brought us to the desert to die?" This accusation would have been especially pertinent as Egypt specialized in elaborate graves and burials. In the middle of this crisis, it is apparent they forgot the hardships of their bondage and the power of their God.
